my verses and thoughts for weight and body issues

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body." I Corinthians 6:19-20
"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight." I Peter 3:3-4
A gentle and quiet spirit is the result of placing my full trust in God - not in my looks, talents or abilities.
If I think positively about my body I have a healthy body image. It has no correlation to what I weigh or how I look.
A healthy body image is characterized by three major components: respect, care and perspective. A woman with a healthy body image respects her body, takes care of her body and keeps her body in perspective.
"comfortable in your own skin" by Dr. Deborah Newman
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." Psalm 139:13-16
"For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - his eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." Romans 1:20
"We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves with themselves, they are not wise." 2 Corinthians 10:12
"How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!" I John 3

ready to share

I have been posting but very hesitant to share my blog or put it out there and then regret it. I shared it on my facebook page but want to take the next step. It is kind of silly to ask questions to nobody and expect no comments isn't it?

do not dwell on the past

Isaiah 43:16, 18-19
“This is what the LORD says— he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters, "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! "

This is a good reminder and exactly what I needed today to look to the Lord. I pray you are able to look to the Lord and a new thing in 2009!

Happy New Year!

2008 wasn't so great!

I have been thinking about this last year and what do I remember most - it is pain and not being myself. I also learned a lot about endurance, trusting God and what happens when I don't do the right things. I need scheduled sleep, time with God, exercise and to say No more. I look forward to 2009 and getting back on track with the things that are off and enjoying my family more and the things God desires for me to do. What are you goals and what goals did you not reach and desire to try again or adjust?
